If you’re an experienced mixed animal veterinarian who enjoys clinical work, developing people, and being part of a close-knit rural community, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
We’re looking for a Clinic Leader / Mixed Animal Veterinarian to join our Galatea team and play a key role in shaping the future of our Galatea clinic.

· The chance to make a difference – coach and support your colleagues, contribute to clinical development, and help shape the future of our Galatea clinic.
· A supportive team culture – work alongside vets and support staff who genuinely value teamwork.
· Strong rural connections – become part of an established rural community and build long-term relationships with clients and their animals.
· Professional and personal development – continue developing your own skills while helping others grow.
· An attractive remuneration package that recognises your experience and leadership responsibilities.
· Flexibility and lifestyle – work arrangements designed to support a sustainable work-life balance.

· At least five years’ experience as a practising mixed animal veterinarian.
· A genuine interest in rural veterinary practice and the people who make it work.
· An interest in leadership, mentoring and developing others.
· Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
· A practical, collaborative approach and a willingness to get stuck in.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys being part of a team and wants to contribute to something bigger.
Why Galatea?
Galatea is Heartland New Zealand at its best — a close rural community where relationships matter and there’s a real sense of belonging.
Our clinic is part of an established veterinary club practice with a loyal client base and strong local connections.
For our large animal work:
· Dairy herds are generally 100–800cows, with most farms within a 10-minute drive of our clinic.
· Around 95% ofour large animal work is dairy.
· There’s a good balance of clinical variety while retaining the benefits of a predominantly dairy-focused rural practice.
· Galatea is approximately equidistant from Rotorua and Whakatāne, giving you access to the wider Bay of Plenty while still enjoying the benefits of a smaller rural community.
And you won’t be doing it alone.
Galatea is one of four clinics within Vetora Bay of Plenty, giving you the best of both worlds: the autonomy and close-knit feel of a small rural clinic, backed by the knowledge, resources and support of a wider veterinary team.
