Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area in California, Maria began working in veterinary clinics in 2001 while studying at university. Over the years she gained hands-on experience in a variety of roles, including reception, kennel attendant and veterinary technician, before graduating from veterinary school in 2010.
In 2016, Maria moved to New Zealand with her husband and son and has been enjoying life and practice here ever since. Their family has since grown with the addition of a daughter, who proudly claims to be the family's only "true Kiwi".
Maria has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dentistry and caring for exotic pets. She enjoys the variety that small animal practice brings and is passionate about helping pets live healthy, happy lives.
At home, Maria's animal family includes four cats and three chickens, ensuring there is never a dull moment outside the clinic either.
